Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the defining technology of our time, found in our voice-activated
devices, smartphone face recognition systems, autonomous vehicles, and now in generative AI
like ChatGPT. The potential for all students with diverse interests to apply this technology for
good is limitless.

We are excited to share that this summer, the Office of Village Life in cooperation with Ottawa
Hills Junior/Senior High School, is offering an in-person project-based Artificial Intelligence
program through Inspirit AI, an AI education program developed and taught by Stanford and
MIT alumni and graduate students. The program will consist of 3.5-hour sessions over 9
weekdays from June 9-20 (no session June 19).

Rising 6th grade students through graduating seniors (class of 2025) will learn the fundamental
concepts of AI and gain a deeper understanding of how AI is used to build ChatGPT and
generative AI, fight the COVID-19 pandemic, power self-driving cars, and more. Students will
learn to program AI using Python, discuss ethics and bias within AI, and complete a group
project applying AI to fields such as healthcare, astronomy, and finance. No prior computer
science experience is required to participate, and advanced cohorts are available. Separate
sections will be offered for students in rising grades 6-8 and 9-12.

If your student is interested in this unique opportunity, please fill out this short interest
application form, linked below. The program is offered at a cost of $1500 for 31.5 hours of hands-on learning. AI practitioners and graduate students from Stanford and MIT who will travel to Ottawa Hills to teach this pre-college program. The Ottawa Hills Schools Foundation is offering a $250 scholarship towards the program fee for the first 20 students to enroll.
