Team Philosophy
The focus will be on developing a love for the game, improving technical soccer skills and growing each player’s soccer IQ. All members will get to play, but play time may not be equal.

Games
The season will run from early September through late October. Home games will be played at the Ottawa Hills High School stadium on Sunday evenings either at 5:00pm or 7:00pm. Away games will be scheduled with other teams in the area but may involve some limited travel. The away schedule will vary based upon the opponent’s field availability. Game schedules will be distributed once available.

Practices
The team will have scheduled practices twice a week. Practice days are tentatively planned for Mondays & Wednesdays 5:30-6:30. Once finalized, practices will start after the registration deadline. Players must bring their own soccer ball, shin guards, soccer cleats, and water bottle to practices and games.

PLEASE NOTE: A final schedule will be distributed once all registrations are in and the game/practice schedules are finalized.

Uniform
Each player will be supplied with a jersey. Jerseys are to be well cared for and will be collected after the last scheduled game. Each player is responsible to supply their own black soccer shorts, shin guards, black socks, soccer cleats/shoes, and soccer ball. Mouth guard is recommended but optional.

Communication
Each player will get information at the beginning of the season with practice times, game schedule, ball boy schedule and team roster. Communication on practice or game changes will be via email or text.

Fees
Registration fee will be applied to league registration, referee fees, coach fees and cost of end of year banquet for the player.

The OHES Run Club program is designed to introduce running as a fun sport that promotes a healthy and fit lifestyle. The program will focus on participation and self-improvement while considering individual differences and running experience. Good form, pacing, dynamic stretching, core strength, healthy eating and hydration are some of the concepts that will be incorporated with fun running activities.

As part of the program, participants will be expected to run up to 1 mile as part of the training and meets.

Practice:
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00pm at OHES. In case of bad weather, practice will be moved in to the New Gym. Practices will start on Tuesday, August 27 and continue through Thursday, Oct 10.

For the first practice on Aug 27, runners should meet in the new gym.

Meets:
A meet schedule will be determined at the beginning of the season and communicated by the coach. Meets will be during the week and in some cases take the place of practice, depending on the date.

Each runner should be dressed in appropriate clothes and shoes for running and also bring their own water bottle, labeled with their name, to each practice.

Runners will receive a team shirt - must register by Aug 22 to be guaranteed a shirt

The program introduces the fundamentals of 10 different sports (soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, football, track and field, baseball, and golf) in a non-competitive environment.

Children in Amazing Athletes routinely gain greater confidence, learn to combine fitness with fun, and develop 6 key motor skills: Balancing | Running | Jumping | Throwing | Catching | Kicking

Participants will receive a free jersey!

PreK players must be of the age to start kindergarten in fall 2025.

The Ottawa Hills Youth Soccer Association (OHYSA) is once again offering recreational soccer to the youth of Ottawa Hills. The program's goal is to give the young soccer enthusiasts a fun experience while focusing on development and learning more about the game.

GAME & PRACTICE SCHEDULE
The season will consist of 6 weeks of games. You will receive a game schedule after the registration period is over and teams are formed.

PreK-1st division will play on Saturday mornings for 6 weeks from Sept 14 -Oct 19. The game schedule will not be finalized until the registration deadline, but games are typically played at 9:00, 10:00 or 11:00. This time will include both practice and game play.

TEAMS
24 players per age group will be needed to make each age division work. If not enough players are registered for an age group, the best efforts will be made to combine age groups. If not enough in a certain age group are registered and it's not possible to combine, you will be notified and your registration fees will be refunded.

UNIFORM
Green/white Ottawa Hills Soccer reversible jersey - this may be ordered HERE (deadline Aug 22). This is the same jersey that was used in the 2022 and 2023 seasons so if you have a jersey that still fits, you can use that instead of ordering a new one.

Players are to provide their own black shorts, white or black socks, shin guards and cleats.

SOCCER BALL & WATER -
Each player should have a soccer ball for practices.

PreK-1st Grade: Size 3 Ball

All players should bring their own water bottle to games and practices.

COACHES ARE NEEDED - CAN YOU HELP?
Volunteers are needed to coach or assist with coaching each team. On the registration form, you will have the option of signing up to help. Coaches will receive information on game day expectations and training tips. Head coaches will be reimbursed for their child's registration fees if they are registered prior to Aug 22.

Before coaching, all volunteer coaches must fulfill a few coaching requirements, including a background check*, concussion and sudden cardiac arrest training (all done online). All information for coaching credentials may be found HERE. *OHYSA will cover the cost of the background checks for soccer coaches.

Grades 2-3: 5:00-6:00
Grades 4-5: 6:00-7:00

Additional practices may be scheduled by coaches at their discretion.

Due to popularity, we have opened a 2nd Pickleball class. This is the same as Pickleball #1 but has been created to give more opportunities to those who want to join. Both Pickleball #1 & #2 will take place at the same time, but will be on 2 different courts in the same gym.

Youth Flag Football House League - Back by popular demand!

Open to grades 3-6. The league will follow the USA Flag Football Rules and Regulations.

Practices: The first practice will be held on Thursday, September 19 from 6:30-7:30pm to introduce coaches and players to the game. After teams are formed, coaches may schedule practices for their individual teams, times and dates TBD.

Games: Start Tuesday, September 24 on the practice fields. The season will consist of 8 games to be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30* with each team playing just one game a night (a specific schedule will be sent out after teams are established). The season will culminate with a championship game on October 17.

*As daylight shortens, the time may need to be adjusted.

Coaches are needed! No previous football experience necessary. On the registration form, you will have the option of signing up to help. Before coaching, all volunteer coaches must fulfill a few coaching requirements, including a background check, concussion and sudden cardiac arrest training. Uniform & Equipment: Players will receive a shirt in their team color. Each player will be responsible for their own shorts and cleats. The flags and balls will be provided by the league. Each player will need to bring their own water bottle.
