Join Mary Machon, owner of Bensell Greenhouse and village resident in this informative class on medicinal plants.

There is growing interest in plants that can heal and help our health as alternative medicines. Do they work and are they safe? Mary has been practicing herbalism for about 10 years and has a certification in medicinal plants from Cornell University. She will show you how to research medicinal plants so that you are safely using them in your healthcare regimen. She will discuss Traditional Chinese Medicine (TMC), Ayurvedic Medicine and Western Medicine and how these can work together safely.

You will have a chance to see, touch, feel and even digest a number of medicinal herbs and plants, drink teas and take home a few seeds and or plants to have in your home. Mary will also discuss how to grow a number of medicinal plants in your own yard.

Handouts will be provided. Bring a pen and paper for note taking.
