Soccer - House League

The Ottawa Hills Youth Soccer Association (OHYSA) is once again offering recreational soccer to the youth of Ottawa Hills. The program's goal is to give the young soccer enthusiasts a fun experience while learning more about the game.

GAME & PRACTICE SCHEDULE
The season will consist of 6 weeks of games. You will receive a game schedule after the registration period is over and teams are formed.

2nd-5th grade division will play games on Sunday afternoons for 6 weeks from Sept 15 -Oct 20. The game scehedule will be not be finalized until the registration deadline, but games are typically played at 1:00, 2:00 or 3:00. Teams may have separate practice times as arranged by the coach.

TRAINING SCHEDULE
There will be training sessions for 2nd-5th grade teams. Training will take place on Wednesdays at the Geresy field closest to the tennis courts on Sept 11, 18, 25, Oct 2, 9, 16 at the following times:
Grades 2-3: 5:00-6:00
Grades 4-5: 6:00-7:00

Additional practices may be scheduled by coaches at their discretion.

TEAMS
24 players per age group will be needed to make each age division work. If not enough players are registered for an age group, the best efforts will be made to combine age groups. If not enough in a certain age group are registered and it's not possible to combine, you will be notified and your registration fees will be refunded.

UNIFORM
Green/white Ottawa Hills Soccer reversible jersey - this may be ordered HERE (deadline Aug 22). This is the same jersey that was used in the 2022 and 2023 seasons so if you have a jersey that still fits, you may use that instead of ordering a new one.

Players are to provide their own black shorts, white or black socks, shin guards and cleats.

SOCCER BALL & WATER -
Each player should have a soccer ball for practices.

2nd-5th Grade: Size 4 Ball

All players should bring their own water bottle to games and practices.

COACHES ARE NEEDED - CAN YOU HELP?
Volunteers are needed to coach or assist with coaching each team. On the registration form, you will have the option of signing up to help. Coaches will receive information on game day expectations, training tips and also have the opportunity to participate in weekly training sessions. Head coaches will be reimbursed for their child's registration fees if they are registered prior to Aug 22.

Before coaching, all volunteer coaches must fulfill a few coaching requirements, including a background check*, concussion and sudden cardiac arrest training (all done online). All information for coaching credentials may be found HERE. *OHYSA will cover the cost of the background checks for soccer coaches.

OHYSA feels it is important that everyone who wants to play soccer have the opportunity to do so. If paying the registration fees creates a hardship, please contact villagelfe@ohschools.org prior to Aug 22 and we will try to accommodate.
