D.A.R.E.

Since 1996, the Ottawa Hills Police Department, in concert with the Ottawa Hills Elementary School, have been educating 6th grade students on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.  An international program, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) was developed in 1983 through a cooperative effort between the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Unified School District.  Today, D.A.R.E. students also receive instruction on prescription drug abuse, bullying, peer pressure, Internet safety, gangs and more.  Please feel free to email our D.A.R.E. Officer, Sgt. Christopher A. Sargent, with any questions regarding the D.A.R.E. program or curriculum at Sargentc@ottawahills.org.
