Why Live Here?

Ottawa Hills is a community where neighbors know each other and each other’s children. Because of its relatively small size, the Village has a feeling of closeness and security.  Neighbors gather both informally and at community events.  The school system brings together parents for the first time, and the friendships made often last a lifetime.

Besides the outward beauty, there is much to say about the commitment of the village community to education, residential services and safety. There are no gates and yet Ottawa Hills is one of the safest communities in the Midwest. Some of this is simply the dedication and working philosophy of its professionals. Ottawa Hills has its own full-time police department, and it’s not surprising for residents to know the names of police officers.  Taking the time to know families and pets is just one example of what makes this village special.

Certainly that wonderful new home is what will bring you to Ottawa Hills, but it’s a lot of the little things that will keep you here. For example, on garbage collection day, workers go into backyards to pick up trash cans and bags, and also pick up recycling weekly.  It is also not unusual for residents to call and ask for their refuse crew by names.

Expanding on the vision of its founders, Ottawa Hills has become a very convenient, comfortable and diverse place to live. In short—a great place to call home.
