The Village of Ottawa Hills is a great place to live with a wonderful sense of community that is often surprising to those who are not familiar with the community. Perhaps the best stories that can be told about Ottawa Hills come from its residents.
“We have moved 10 times, and lived in 5 states since getting married. We always looked for communities that valued their schools. Ottawa Hills has shown over and over that the residents value education. It’s one of the top 5 school systems in Ohio, and our children who have gone on to college were well prepared. In addition, we especially appreciate the small size of our community because we can easily know the children and parents that our teens hang with!”

“One late Friday night in the fall of 2007, we had some beautiful deer in our backyard. Earlier in the evening, we had grilled dinner on our backyard wooden deck. Apparently, the deer smelled the remnants of our cookout and tipped over the hot grill and coals onto the deck.
Our little super-dog, Bandit, awakened by the heat and smell of fire, waddled over to the bottom of the staircase and barked to awaken us. Sure enough, the deck was engulfed in flames and spreading quickly.
We called 911 and within minutes; both the OHFD and the OHPD were on the scene, preventing what could have been a more devastating fire. And the OHFD and OHPD arrived on the scene without using sirens so that the entire neighborhood slept peacefully through the night! How nice is that?”

“A walk down the beautiful tree lined streets, a wave to a neighbor, a police officer checking on our home while on vacation, the tops on our garbage cans replaced with care… Yes, we love the award winning schools, but there’s so much more that makes Ottawa Hills the premiere place to live in Northwest Ohio.”
